Lecture Notes: Each registered student of the class will get a copy of the lecture notes free of charge.

Objective: To develop understanding of basic modeling methods and compensator designtechniques for DC-DC PWM power converters. Understanding of the fundamental modeling process is a must, i.e., from averaging, determination of steady-state operating point, to linearization in small-signal sense. The modeling and control techniques to be covered include average model, PWM switch model, voltage-mode control, current-mode control, average-current-mode control and charge control. Modeling and control of single-phase power factor correction circuits will also be introduced as the technique is based on the similar modeling process but with specific application skills.

Grading:

First Project 15%
Second Project 25%
Final Exam 50%
Extra points 10%

Language: The working language of this course is English. The lectures, in-class
questions and answers, project assignments and completion, and final exam will be all in English.
